Whenever Van Cortlandt Jewish Center is in the press we will add the links to it here.

Here’s a story from the New York Times, from way back; 1979 to be exact. It tells how the Spanish caretaker, Victor, held his daughter’s Sweet Sixteen at VCJC. It was a diverse crowd of Jewish and Spanish attendees.

When we lost our contract with the NYC Department of Education, MMCC came along, renovated the two top floors and rented them out for their pre-school programs. NY1 covered the story. NY1 tells how MMCC helped us stay open. [As of 9/27/17 this link does not get to the story. The NY1 site is in transition to a new platform and may not have moved it over yet. We are aware of this and will modify the link if it continues to fail.]

Three Israeli boys were killed by terrorists in June of 2014 and then vigilantes killed a Palestinian boy. We felt it was only right to send condolence cards to all four families. The story was covered by News 12 and The Bronx Free Press. The News 12 video is no longer available online.

Here are behind the scenes pictures, from News 12.

Bronx Free Press wrote an article on our sending condolence cards.

Although they weren’t covered by the press, elected officials came by to sign the cards and show their support.

A lecture on Jerome Park Reservoir Access given by Gary Axelbank on January 11, 2015, was covered by News 12, Bronx.

We held our 13th annual Bazaar and Carnival on November 12, 2017.  News 12 was there and reported it here.
