The Van Cortlandt Jewish Center’s December fundraiser promises to be a blowout event. Two shows – My Big Bronx Bar Mitzvah and A Walk Through the Bronx of Yesteryear.

A fun-filled upbeat Rock ‘N Roll Bar Mitzvah musical comedy revue of the Bronx of yesteryear with inspiration from Carlebach, the Beatles, and the music of the ‘60’s!

A Walk Through the Bronx of Yesteryear
with Steve Samtur, publisher of Back in the Bronx
This fun walk down memory lane includes close to 500 never-before-seen photos of your Bronx, the way it was back in the day!

Doors open at 10:00 AM for Raffle prize browsing and people schmoozing. Brunch starts at 10:30 AM, followed by the My Big Bronx Bar Mar Mitzvah show at 11 AM. Intermission, dessert and the raffle drawings will be at approximately 12:45 pm, followed by Steve Samtur’s “A Walk Through the Bronx of Yesteryear” presentation.

All tickets include the Brunch, two shows, dessert and 1 raffle ticket for your choice of $1-level prizes. Raffle prize tickets range from $1 to $5 per chance.  Additional raffle tickets can be purchased on site.

You can print the Order Form, fill it in and either mail or bring it to the office with payment. Phone reservations are accepted but not confirmed until payment is received. Prices are $45 for 1 ticket, $85 for a pair.

Hours are 11 AM to 3 PM. Prices for in person or direct purchase are $1 per ticket or $5 for a book of 6.
For the first time this year, you can also purchase raffle tickets online using PayPal or a Credit Card (via PayPal).   The minimum online purchase is 2 six-ticket books for $11, which includes a $1 convenience fee. While getting ready for the Bazaar & Carnival on November 12th, view over 60 fantastic items up for bid in our online auction that opens for bidding on October 29! Many of the items on this auction will move to our live auction on November 12th between 11 am and 2 pm. Absentee bidding will be available for these items, so even if you can’t physically attend the event, you can still ensure (hopefully) being the high bidder on that item you so desire. And there are some local items that will ONLY be available at the live event. So check out the auction site and check back often as new items will be added as they are donated.

Our annual Journal has been published and, for the first time, we were able to offer ads in color.  The result was even more impressive than usual and was well received.  You can see a copy of the full Journal as a pdf (in a new window).  If you placed an ad, but did not get your own copy of the Journal and would like one, please let the office know.  Members and other local individuals can pick up a copy at the office.  Businesses that generously took ads will automatically receive their own copy.

We had a successful annual Gala at the Riverdale K Grill House on Sunday, June 25.  Photos of the event are available online and copies can be ordered.

It’s time to renew/get your membership and tickets for High Holiday services.

As of August 16, High Holiday ticket prices are $125 for adults and membership dues are $225.

You may pay by filling in and mailing back the form that was mailed to you.  If you have misplaced the form, you can download it here.  The linked form can be printed and filled in.  If you prefer to use PayPal, please use the buttons below to select the options you need.  During the PayPal transaction, you should be presented with a text box to confirm your name(s); whether the men’s/women’s tickets are renewals, or new, or renewals, but with a desire to change location.  Please fill that in.  If the box is missing or you have trouble with it, the page after completing the PayPal transaction will offer a second link to download the form offered above.  You can download, print, and mail it.

You will be able to specify how many memberships and each type of ticket you need after you add them to the cart.
You will be taken to PayPal to complete the payment.  We will not have your financial information.  You do not need a PayPal account to pay this way, you can use a debit or credit card.

We will be having our Annual Journal Gala (formerly called our Journal Dinner) on June 25, 2017 at noon.

Our honorees this year are Brad Silver, Exec. VP of the Bronx Jewish Community Council (BJCC) and The BJCC, in appreciation for the wonderful work they do for the Bronx community.

The Gala will be held at the Riverdale K Grill, 5693 Riverdale Ave, Bronx, NY 10471.  There will be a buffet luncheon and a cash bar.  Cost is $100 per person and reservations are open through June 14.  Please contact the office to make reservations.
