Annual Journal Gala a Success, Journal now online

Annual Journal Gala a Success, Journal now online

Our annual Journal has been published and, for the first time, we were able to offer ads in color.  The result was even more impressive than usual and was well received.  You can see a copy of the full Journal as a pdf (in a new window).  If you placed an ad, but did not get your own copy of the Journal and would like one, please let the office know.  Members and other local individuals can pick up a copy at the office.  Businesses that generously took ads will automatically receive their own copy.

We had a successful annual Gala at the Riverdale K Grill House on Sunday, June 25.  Photos of the event are available online and copies can be ordered.

Inspired by his own heritage and dedicated to the Holocaust survivors he met on his journeys, Michael Weinstein gives readers a tour of 180 beautiful synagogues throughout the boroughs of New York City. For two years, Michael's desire to learn as much as he could moved him to visit synagogues in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island. This coffee table book's 613 photos represent each of the mitzvot, or commandments, of Judaism in the Torah. Michael shares the dates that these stunning synagogues were founded as well as their names, including their English translations. Enjoy the journey this photo book will take you on through some of New York City's most historic and lovely synagogues.

The following Bronx Synagogues are featured in this great coffee table book:

  • Albert Einstein Synagogue Congregation Birkat Shmuel

  • Kingsbridge Center of Israel

  • Van Cortlandt Jewish Center

  • Young Israel Ohab Zedek of North Riverdale

  • Young Israel of Pelham Parkway Jewish Center

The Van Cortlandt Jewish Center is selling this book for $36 (list price $39.95). If we sell 20 books the author will let us keep a % of the money collected.
