Anti-Semitism Lecture – March 11, 2018
Next in the VCJC free lecture series on Sunday, March 11th:
Paul Weinberg presents “Antisemitism Then and Now” – dealing with all the categories, types and forms of Antisemitism, from its earliest beginnings to the present. The presentation follows the creation of Antisemitism – from the hateful allusions to Jews in the New Testament (“Christ Killer,” et al), to the Church’s attack on the Jews in the Middle Ages; the racial model that produced the Holocaust; Islamic Jew hatred from the Koran to the present; the disease model of the Jew – to today: BDS, the demonization of Israel in academia; the UN obsession against Israel; Replacement Theology in mainstream Protestant churches, denying Jews and Israel any place in history after the birth of Christianity; Jewish self-hatred, and the denial of Jewish history and the Jewish people (the Copenhagen School and Shlomo Sand are examples of this). The workshop features handouts and materials as well as a Prezi visual to enhance the presentation. Audience participation is encouraged and questions and comments are welcome.
Presentation/workshop starts at 10 AM at VCJC. Bagels with cream cheese and lox and coffee/tea will be served at 9:30 am. Breakfast and lecture are free, but donations are graciously accepted.
