Farewell Brunch for Rabbi Borenstein
Rabbi David Borenstein of Van Cortlandt Jewish Center is leaving for Israel
Rabbi David Borenstein has been the extremely dedicated and effective spiritual leader of the Van Cortlandt Jewish Center, since 2009. Rabbi Borenstein is now making Aliyah, which means he and his family are moving to Israel.
As a gesture of sincere appreciation for his efforts, Van Cortlandt Jewish Center is having a “Farewell to the Rabbi” brunch for him on Sunday, August 18, 2019, at 10:30 AM at 3880 Sedgwick Ave.; Bronx, NY 10463. There will be a nominal fee of $10 per person to help defray the cost. Checks should be made out and mailed to VCJC at 3880 Sedgwick Ave.; Bronx, NY 10463. Rabbi Borenstein has brought a renewed spirit and vitality to the services and other religious and social events. Rabbi David Borenstein was raised in Far Rockaway, NY. From 1992 until 2010, Rabbi Borenstein supervised and coordinated community and social services programs at Graenum Berger Bronx Jewish Federation Service Center, an affiliate of the Riverdale YM-YWHA, UJA-Federation agencies, including providing extensive help to Holocaust survivors. At that time, the Rabbi was a recipient of the Leeder Family Foundation award for outstanding social work to the Jewish Community.
VCJC has a committee working on replacing Rabbi Borenstein.
